File Vault gives the ability to 'watch' folders and files, giving notifications by email and within the platform when changes happen to them.
To watch a file or folder, first click on the ellipses in the file list and click 'Show Details'. A drawer will open and from here a Bell icon can be seen in the top right.
The bell will glow blue when you have watches enabled.
The two modes of watching
Clicking the Bell icon for a folder will reveal two options, shown below.
'Watch This Document' mode will alert for any changes to that file or folder, and any changes directly within (e.g. a file upload), but not alert to changes within child folders.
'Watch All Contents' mode allows a user to watch a folder and be notified of any changes to it or any of the folders and files within.
Upon watching a file or folder, you will be notified in the following events:
New file versions are created
Alternate file versions are restored
Files are uploaded in a watched folder
A watched folder is deleted
A new folder is created
